The greatest assets of the show are the two leads, Craig Horner and Bridget Regan. Horner’s Richard Cypher is a classic hero; he is earnest, brave, and selfless. He is not burdened with doubt or indecision, setting him apart from the flawed heroes that are more prevalent in today’s pop culture. Likable from the start, Horner’s acting improved steadily throughout the season as he grew more comfortable in the role. Bridget Regan as Kahlan Amnell is the standout of the cast. Kahlan is both strong and vulnerable; from the very start she made the audience care about her character and what needed to be done to stop Darken Rahl.
