New Bridget interview at TVStar…part 1

Exclusive Interview: Bridget Regan Answers Fan Questions (Legend of the Seeker), Part I

You had lots and lots (and lots) of questions for Bridget Regan and, as promised, the lovely leading lady of Legend of the Seeker has taken the time to reply to 20-plus of them. We at TVStar.com think you’ll agree that her answers are by turns fun, serious and informative — and this is only part one of our exclusive interview.

By the way, congratulations to TVStar.com reader Balaamsdonkey, whose very funny and observant question was chosen by Bridget as one of the two best submitted and who wins the first of our autographed photos of Bridget. So here goes part one of the interview and be on the lookout for both part two and our second winner of a Bridget Regan-signed picture.

The first-ever scene in Legend of the Seeker shows you riding a horse through a beautiful countryside, chased by ugly D’Harans. I think it drew a lot of people into the show. When you shot it, did you know that scene was, in a sense, going to introduce the show and could possibly make or break it? How much pressure did you feel shooting that scene? (darkbahamut88)

Maybe it was a bit daunting. I knew that it was the first time the audience would meet Kahlan…meet MY Kahlan. The script said, “a fierce warrior of stunning beauty and great courage.” Needless to say, I had fallen in love with her, and I wanted to do her right. Do her justice. But in the last moment, I had to let that go. (I had to) concentrate on getting to the boundary and finding (Richard) and putting the book in his hands…and cantering in a corset for the first time and not falling on my bum.

If you wandered in to the Valley of Perdition, what might you see as being your worst nightmares and fears coming to life? And what do you think Kahlan would see? (drummergirl)

I think Kahlan’s worst fears wouldn’t be that far off from what was happening to Richard (Craig Horner) in “Perdition.” Oh, I can’t imagine poor Kahlan seeing Richard with a child and a wife he loves. Heartbreaking!

Hell to the Yes: Legend of the Seeker Ain’t Dead Yet!

…the latest from E!Online:

Great news, Legend of the Seeker fans! You may have heard rumors that your show had been canceled, but we just talked with an inside source close to the show, and well, the rumors are just not true.

Yes, the Tribune Station Group is dropping Legend of the Seeker in a lot of markets, but that’s not the end of the road for Richard (Craig Horner), Kahlan (Bridget Regan) and Cara (Tabrett Bethell). Here’s the good news that we’ve heard about the future of our favorite cult-hit fantasy series:

Insiders tell us that ABC Studios, which produces Legend of the Seeker, is not letting Tribune’s decision be a show killer. We’re told that ABC has every desire to bring the show back for a third season and studio bosses are “exploring their options” for where and how to air a potential third season.

Long story short, if the ax is falling on LOTS, it’ll be weeks and months before we know for sure, but Tribune’s decision is not a death knell. So don’t panic, kiddos, and how about we channel all that nervous energy into some serious fan activism?

So, what’s our suggestion for an alternate home for Legend of the Seeker? We say ABC should either convince the CW to air it on Fridays at 9 p.m. after Smallville, resulting in a “sexy genre show” two-night block for the network (Vampire Diaries and Supernatural on Thursdays, Smallville and LOTS on Fridays), or it should sell the show to Syfy, not least because Legend’s ratings are at least as good as anything that Caprica and Stargate Universe are putting up.

Legend of the Seeker: Tribune Dumps Show But May Not Be Cancelled

from tvseriesfinale.com:

While the second season of Legend of the Seeker is still airing, a significant decision has already been made about the possibility of season three.

Legend of the Seeker is a fantasy series about a young woodsman (Craig Horner) who discovers he is actually destined to be a heroic Seeker. The series also stars Bridget Regan, Bruce Spence, Craig Parker, and Kevin J. Wilson.

The show is produced by ABC Studios and airs in syndication, primarily running on stations owned by the Tribune Company. The show debuted on November 1, 2008 and was renewed for second season after just 10 episodes had aired.

Season two kicked off on November 7, 2009 and now, after 13 episodes have aired, Tribune has decided they’ve had enough. According to KsiteTV and a representative of Tribune, the show’s ratings haven’t been good enough for them to renew Legend of the Seeker for season three.

While ABC has not made an announcement that the show has been cancelled, the Tribune Company represents a large percentage of stations that carry the series. ABC will have to do a lot of legwork to get it picked up by enough other stations.

The big questions are if the ratings are good enough for other stations to want to pick up the show and if the revenue will warrant ABC keeping the show going.

Co-Executive Producer Mike Sussman isn’t ready to give up just yet. Yesterday, he twittered a photo his show’s hero with his favorite Mark Twain quote, “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.”

The remaining episodes of season two kick off on March 20th.

Legend of the Seeker Canceled? Tribune Confirms It’s Not Renewing for a 3rd Season
Posted on 04 March 2010 by Robert Seidman

Legend of the Seeker look likely to be canceled.

Fans are in a tizzy about a story that quotes a corporate relations SVP at Tribune Company:

A representative from the Tribune Company is now saying that Legend of the Seeker will not be renewed for a third season.

When e-mailed for comment by KSiteTV and by others, this is what he said:

Dear Craig,

Thanks for your email and for your support of the show. Unfortunately, not enough viewers felt the same way as you and “Seeker’s” ratings do not merit renewing it. I’m sorry.

Gary Weitman
SVP/Corporate Relations
Tribune Company

I contacted Mr. Weitman who was extremely responsive and sensitive to the plight of the fans, but confirmed that the ratings did not merit Tribune sticking with it for a 3rd season.

Legend of the Seeker is an ABC Studios production distributed by ABC Domestic television but seemingly airing primarily (and perhaps exclusively) on Tribune-owned stations with the WGN America superstation having the widest coverage.

I have contacted ABC in hopes of tracking down someone who can advise on whether ABC Domestic Television might attempt to syndicate it anyway despite the Tribune Station Group not picking it up. If I find out anything else I will post it.

Concern about Seeker not getting a Season 3 renewal?

Tweeted this afternoon by Mike Sussman, writer and co-exec producer:

WrittenByMikeS The truth AFAIK: Tribune renewed us for season 2 in Jan09 & as of today we don’t YET have renewal from them for season 3. It is a concern.

Personally, I’m not too worried yet. ABC is having its own troubles elsewhere and I’m sure Seeker isn’t at the top of their priority list just now. I’ll wait til May before I start panicking.

HOWEVER, a little pushing can’t hurt. Visit herblueeyes.com to see how you can help in the letter-writing campaign (or…send Tribune some persimmons!).

New behind-the-scenes pic (sort of)…

…thanks to Mike Sussman (writer, co-exec Prod.) who tweeted “Writer’s Room 3/2/2010. Who sez we don’t know the books?”

Oh Zedd….now that’s just frightening!

In other news: Parker Stevenson stars in this episode! For those of you too young to know who he is…do a search for the TV show “The Hardy Boys”. Ahh…I remember watching that when I was a kid. :)

Tabrett Bethell interview at TheTorchOnline…

Interview: LEGEND OF THE SEEKER’s Tabrett Bethell is Not Cara (Or IS She?)

What would it be like to interview Cara, the take-no-prisoners Mord-Sith-turned-sorta-good who is currently shaking up the second season of the hit syndicated fantasy series Legend of the Seeker?

I’m sure if you asked one wrong question, she’d bite your head off. (On the other hand, what a way to go! Am I right?)

Anyway, I was understandably a tad nervous when I landed a chance to speak to Tabrett Bethell, the actress who plays Cara, by phone from New Zealand, where the show is just wrapping up the filming of its final episodes for the season.

I needn’t have worried. This Australian native, a former professional cheerleader but a relative newcomer to acting, couldn’t have been kinder or more pleasant. She is, of course, not the character she plays on television.

Or is she? As we talked, even Tabrett (which is pronounced with the accent on the first syllable) admitted there are occasional similarities: she can be very blunt, she’s very private and self-protective, and she was initially annoyed by Bridget Regan and Craig Horner’s humorous on-set antics (and was blunt enough to tell me that!).
